Begin your drawing practice in graphite! The most common tool for drawing, the graphite pencil, will be the defined medium of this 7 week course. Learn the basics of sketching, understand the effectiveness of drawing techniques, and receive a formal introduction into the process of creating imagery all on your own. Figure Drawing

Develop your observation skills and learn how to draw from a live model in our figure drawing class. This class will help you develop your understanding of proportion, action, line sensitivity, and the illusion of volume. Each class will start with short poses by a nude model (2 -10 min) and transition to longer ones (20 min).

Drawing Fundamentals: Color Theory (Spring)

Learn the basics of rendering in colored pencils, pastels, and more, while drawing from life and photographs. We will cover basic color theory, layering, and blending techniques with the drawing media of your choice. We will also practice the fundamentals of drawing, including form, value, space, and composition. Students of all levels are welcome!

1 Roll Artist/Drafting/Masking Tape

Color Media Choices:
Choose one (or more) of the color media below, along with the required supplies above. Feel free to bring in other drawing-related materials you are interested in exploring! (Please avoid solvents or other fume-producing materials, such as Sharpies or Prismacolor illustration markers.)

– Colored Pencils (recommended brands: Faber-Castell, Prismacolor, Derwent)
– Watercolor Pencils (recommended brands: Derwent, Caran d’Ache, related supplies:
cup/jar for water, a few watercolor brushes (different shapes/sizes), a few clean cloth rags)

Sketchbook Drawing & Creative Play

Sketch out your ideas, strengthen your personal voice, draw on location, and most importantly– express yourself freely! In this 4 week workshop you will be using traditional drawing media to capture images and emotions, all while fine tuning your drawing skills. Whether you like sketching with pen or pencil, or drawing from life or from memory, this course can offer lessons that will encourage positive creative development. No experience is necessary, all students are welcome!

Sketchbook of any size and shape
Drawing Materials:  Micron Pens, Brush Pens, Fountain Pens, Pencils, Color Pencils, eraser, Sharpener. 
Optional: India Ink with a watercolor brush size 6, Pan Set of Watercolors, Markers.

Pen & Ink Illustration

Learn the tricks and techniques of Pen & Ink! We’ll explore the in’s and out’s of working with pen and applying it effectively with brush and inks. Subjects will range from still life to working from photos. Topics such as loose sketching, contrast, texturing, hatching techniques, composition, and illustration will be covered. Drawing Nature Landscapes

Join us for an in-depth approach to the basics of sketching lines and developing style with an emphasis on landscapes. This class is perfect for those interested in starting a regular drawing practice or expanding drawing skills. Explore formal sketching and drawing demonstrations that cover a variety of subjects. We’ll focus on perspective drawing, proportions, nature scenes, and more. This class is open to all drawing levels.

Learn to use Procreate to take a whole new approach to digital drawing and painting, and learn to create the digital illustrations you’ve always wanted to make. In this class you will explore new techniques to achieve Screen printing & Risograph-style illustrations. Key lessons include:
