Teapots (Spring)

Have you always wanted to make a teapot? This class will explore a variety of different techniques for creating ceramic teapots, including making the body, spout, lid and handle. We’ll focus on using the wheel; however, hand-built forms will be addressed. After developing an understanding of basic teapot construction, you’ll explore function and design.

This is an intermediate level class. Pre-requisite: Must be able to throw a cylinder confidently and with even walls.

Spend your Thursday nights with us! Sign up with a friend, your partner, or come on your own. Learn something new and creative while relaxing with a glass of wine. The first glass is on us! After that, it’s BYOB. This class is geared towards beginners with little to no pottery experience.

Intermediate Pottery(Spring)

Learn to design and build a dinnerware place setting by hand. We will discuss design concepts that unify pieces into a set then make bisqueware hump molds and paper templates for your designs. We will discuss and work on developing each student’s personal style and aesthetic to make this project truly your own creation! At the end of the session you will have a complete single place setting.

Beginning Pottery(Spring)

Dive into clay with our introductory pottery class! Learn the ins and outs of throwing one-of-a-kind ceramics pieces and explore the basics of finishing and glazing your work. No previous experience with clay is necessary.

Ceramics Workshop: Pinch Pot Planters (Winter)

Master the pinch pot, a simple form of pottery that has been used since the ancient times. In this 3 week workshop you will apply this handbuilding technique to create a variety of small 5-8″ functional planters! This class is open to all students, including those with no previous pottery experience. *Please note that open studio access for the session is not included with this workshop*

Day 1: Friday Feb. 10, 1-3pm. Create your pinch pot planters
Day 2: Friday Feb. 17, 1-3pm. Finesse your pieces, experiment with slips, stamps & textures
Day 3: Friday Feb. 24, 1-3pm. Your work will be bisque fired. Explore glazing and underglaze techniques
Pick-up finished pieces: Friday Mar. 3

All materials, tools, and firings are provided.
