Watercolor: Landscapes(Spring)

This 7-week course will introduce the basics of watercolor painting as we capture the beauty of natural landscapes. You will gain first hand experience in color mixing & matching, brush technique & control, and expressive color contrast. If you are looking to jumpstart your creativity or explore a new technique, this workshop is for you. All levels are welcome.

  • Fluid, Cold Press Watercolor Paper block  9×12
  • 10 Well Plastic palette
  • Kneaded eraser
  • 2 General’s Kimberly Drawing Pencil – HB
  • Sharpener – Double-Hole
  • Synthetic Watercolor Brush- Round 2 ,6,10 Princeton
  • M. Graham Watercolors- Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Sap Green, Chinese White, Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, Indigo
  • Drawing Board 13×17 or smaller
  • Drafting Tape 1 inch
  • Jar For Water

Watercolor: Painting Foods(Spring)

Come paint foods with Sophie Tivona!  From apples to beets to meats, we will tackle a variety of tasty treats.  Sophie will teach a variety of techniques to create texture and shape with watercolor. Some watercolor experience is required.

watercolor block 9″x12″, Fluid or Arches brand, cold press *must be a block*
paint brushes: 1/2″ flat wash, 4 round, 2 round
2H pencil (mechanical works)
scissors
ruler
paper towels
cup for water
masking tape (artists tape preferred)
glue stick
sketchbook
palette with at least 8 wells and room to mix colors
paints: ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, alizarin crimson, cadmium red hue, lemon yellow, new gamboge, titanium white, lamp black *It is essential to have these specific colors for our mixing exercises*

Watercolor Fundamentals(Winter)

Learn the basics of watercolor in this beginner course. We will cover the principles of color theory, color mixing, paint layering, and texture through still life, landscapes, wildlife, and more. You will be able to freely express yourself with a new painting every class or take your time with a passion project. Whether you are a practicing artist or would just like to get your feet wet, you’ll leave the class with a new outlook on watercolor painting.

Watercolor: Color Theory(Winter)

Are you obsessed with color? This class is designed for color fanatics and watercolor enthusiasts! We will explore the relationship of colors through a series of exercises designed to sharpen your eye to the subtleties of hue and saturation. You will learn how to match colors, mix colors, and make educated color choices in your art and life. Both beginners and experienced watercolorists are encouraged to join!
