Monoprinting Workshop with Gelli Plates

This workshop will demonstrate a variety of methods for making unique, one-off prints called monotypes. Students will explore the endless possibilities for creating imagery, patterns, and rich, layered compositions using found objects as well as painting and drawing techniques. These methods yield often unpredictable results, fueling experimentation and unexpected new directions. 

Registration includes:

  • Weekly live lessons via Zoom
  • Videos of demos

Course objectives and outcomes

Students will:

  • Be introduced to the gelli plate method
  • Experiment and use textured objects as a means of ‘drawing’
  • Create handmade stencils and masks
  • Explore color and composition
  • Learn to rescue an ‘ugly print’
