Tea-dyeing is a natural process used by costumers, designers, quilters, and artists to add antique tones to fabric and paper. It is a simple, non-toxic introduction to the art of dyeing. In the first 3-hour session, participants will learn three simple dye-resist methods to create patterns on cotton fabric for a two-hour dye bath. We’ll will then prepare fabrics for a second, longer bath to be done at home for a darker tint.

The second 3-hour session will introduce color to the process along with new materials such as ribbon and yarn.

$20 materials fee payable to the instructor.  Fee includes: instructional handouts, a dye kit with dyeing jar, dye base, tools, and fabric for two dye baths per session—one dip in class followed by an overnight bath at home.
