In this 7-week class students will use soft pastel to build layers of color and tone
to create dreamy still lives, expressive color studies, and compositions. We will also explore the difference between “harder” and “softer” pastels and their uses. All levels welcome.
Materials List:
Required:
Canson XL Dry Media 11x14” or pastel paper of similar quality
Set of 24+ (more is always better if possible) soft pastels like this set
Set of 24+ (more is always better if possible) oil pastels like this set
Paper blending stumps/tortillons
Kneaded eraser
*Ideally* 2-3 hard pastels or pastel pencils in light tones for sketching, like these or these or these
Optional:
Canson Mi-Tientes Assorted Pad size 12x16”
Strathmore Pastel Paper Pad 18x24”
Hard Pastel set and/or pastel pencils
Wax crayons/pastels
Charcoal pencils
Graphite pencils
Pastel blending tools
