Begin your formal creative practice with the fundamentals of drawing. Learn the basics of this fine medium while exploring various mark-making tools, such as charcoal, graphite, pen, and colored pencil. Topics covered in this class will include line quality, shading and gradation, cross hatching, and contour drawing. This class is open to all levels.

Materials List:
Graphite pencils - HB, 2B, 4B, 6B - Staedtler (or Derwent)
General's charcoal pencils 2b,4b, 6b (kit is fine)
Kneaded eraser
xacto knife (or pencil sharpener if we don’t want everyone buying knives!)
Drawing paper pad - 14” x 17” or 12” x 16” - any of these are fine: strathmore sketch 400, strathmore drawing 300 or cannon xl recycled drawing pad or mixed media pad (11x 14)
Optional Materials:
Vine charcoal
Blending stumps/paper tortillion
Chamois cloth
