This class covers basic hand sewing and garment construction (and deconstruction) techniques through a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on activities. By the end of the session, students will learn basic hand sewing techniques for mending, alterations and garment customization. These skills help extend the life of favorite garments, alter them to fit better, or customize/repurpose items according to your own design. We begin with hand sewing and will conclude with machine sewing in the final weeks of class. Machines will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own working machine to learn on.
