New Class!!--Wall Based Ceramic Sculpture:  Take your creations off the table and onto the wall! This class will cover basic to intermediate handbuilding techniques to create sculpture for the wall. Students will learn how to use standard pottery tools to construct forms with slabs. Learn new tips and tricks to build successfully! Initial projects will include relief tiles & simple box forms - these techniques will allow us to then realize more complex sculpture, including figurative and abstract work. This class will also explore glazing for sculpture, including ways to utilize color, oxides, high gloss and matte glazes to enhance surface texture.
Students will be encouraged to evaluate form in a new way - how does an object change when it is hung on the wall? Learn about hanging methods, hardware and tools required to safely mount finished work.
Tool kits and clay can be purchased on the first day of class – please bring check or cash with you to cover materials!
