We'll then move to more complex assemblies and finish with texture, design, and glaze to enhance the surface of the work. Projects and demonstrations will be a catalyst for our individual and creative expression. Students may choose projects to focus on such as dinner sets, tea pots, vases, boxes or jars. All levels wecome! The instructor can work with more advanced students to develop their skills and personal vision.

Raku Laboratory: Raku is a quick and exciting way to decorate decorative pottery and ceramic sculpture. Glazed ware heated to red-hot is taken from the kiln and placed in cans with newspaper or sawdust and smoked from the resulting fire. The  results include beautiful crackle glazes and shiny lusters. We will learn the history of this technique, experiment in making forms that are best suited to the technique, learn how to get widely varied results from the same glaze, and find alternate firing methods using the Raku kiln. Students of all levels are welcome in this class.
