Painting Now!

^{In this class we will discuss issues, techniques, and concepts in contemporary painting with an emphasis on how these relate to your artwork.  We will begin each class with a discussion about the work of a selection of contemporary painters.  These presentations will provide you with an overview of recognized painters who are currently working, exhibiting and being written about internationally. After the presentation and discussion, you will then focus on your own studio work. This class time will be used as studio time for painting and will provide an opportunity for you to have one-on-one discussions with me about the issues that have been raised during the presentations as they relate to your painting.  We will identify what concepts are working in your work, what techniques are being used to express your ideas, and how those are relevant to contemporary art practices.  Periodically the class will have group critiques where you will have an opportunity to present your recently completed paintings for group discussion.  This class is open to anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of contemporary art and take their paintings to the next level.}
